Side Effect of Kindle?

I'm doing this as a separate post because I think it's highly significant.

You know how I said, below, that my book Brianna's Navy SEAL is selling at Amazon for $15.00 in trade paperback? Last month I paid $10.20.

It didn't really register when I typed it, but one of my fellow Amber Quill authors pointed out that her books available for the Kindle were no longer being discounted. So I checked all my titles, and even the ones not available for Kindle were no longer discounted.

Then I checked my Wish List.

Folks, Amazon appears to have removed discounts from ALL their paperbacks.

I don't know why that seems so evil to me. If I go to the local bookstore, my books aren't discounted (except for the 10% at Barnes and Noble for the membership). If I buy enough books at Amazon and do Super Saver, I don't pay shipping. So paying full price should be okay. But for some reason, the way they went about this burns me.

Thoughts?

ETA: This post got picked up by a couple of other blogs, and I read some of the discussion, and some people said there were still some books being discounted. I reviewed some titles more carefully, and all the mass markets I looked at are full price (which someone said have been for a while, and I can't pinpoint when it changed [I know they used to be discounted]). The hardcovers I have on my list are not out yet, and list a discount. The trade paperbacks vary; the ones not out yet are discounted, a few new ones are, too, but older ones are full price. But the fact remains that in October I paid $3-5 less for four books than they are currently selling for, on books that are by no means new titles. So something has definitely changed.
